The conflict between tourism expansion and sustainability
This edited collection explores the complex trade-off between economic growth and environmental and social sustainability within the tourism industry, with a specific focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Through a multidisciplinary approach, the book examines how tourism policy can be reconciled with sustainable development goals in regions such as Senegal, Nigeria, and Angola. By integrating perspectives on governance, technology, and health tourism, the authors analyze the tension between expanding tourism production and preserving the vital resources and community structures of developing destinations.
