Thirty-six Days recounts the harrowing experience of Angel Munoz and his family, who were victims of organized crime in La Laja, Guerrero, Mexico. On December 13, 2014, armed individuals violently raided their home, kidnapping Mr. Munoz and two of his daughters. The narrative documents the subsequent thirty-six days of captivity, characterized by physical and mental abuse, emotional turmoil, and the constant threat of violence. The family was forced to pay a ransom, yet the captors held Mr. Munoz hostage for further demands. His ordeal concluded with a major rescue operation by Mexican authorities, which resulted in the liberation of twenty-three other victims and the arrest of several suspects. The account serves as a testament to the victims' suffering and the impact of systemic violence on rural communities.
