Amalia decides to embark on a cruise that will travel the southernmost coasts of the American continent, even passing through Cape Horn. She has the firm purpose of finding that ideal man on board who can share his life with her.
Very disappointed, heartbroken and crying tears of rage after failed meetings and dates, she goes up to the upper deck in cold and rainy weather to appreciate and photograph the glacier that shares her name. At that moment, the ship is just crossing in front of it. She slips on the wet floor, gets entangled in her own clothing, and when she expects to fall, she is caught just in time by a muscular man’s arms. Then hope and the illusion of loving and being loved are reborn in her. It is this - ‘Amalia in the rain’ - the story that gives title to the selection of short stories with which the Swiss author Dill McLain surprises us once again. With
a fresh, entertaining, direct narrative, she catches us and makes us part of her incredible love stories. In them, often written with an air of humour and set in very diverse places, after going through periods of lack, love disappointments and broken relationships, the protagonists always end up finding happiness.
The author proposes that we travel with her while we enjoy reading it, but at the same time, she makes us reflect on the situations in which life sometimes places us. Her message is clear. No matter how difficult the circumstances may seem, we must not give up on dreams, never surrender, and not stop fighting for what interests us. In the end, one way or another, fate will play in our favour, and we will end up being rewarded.
